Typical window tint prices in Michigan

Full car prices, based on guides published by Michigan shops in 2026:

Film type Sedan SUV / crossover Pickup / large SUV
Dyed $150 to $300 $200 to $350 $250 to $400
Carbon $250 to $450 $300 to $550 $350 to $600

Other common items:

Item Typical range
Removing old tint $50 to $150, more if the old film is badly baked on
Windshield sun strip (top 4 inches) $50 to $100

A note on windshields: some price guides list full windshield tint. In Michigan, film on the windshield is only allowed on the top 4 inches (or down to the factory shade band), so we don't list a full windshield price. See our Michigan tint law page.

What changes the price

Film type. This is the biggest factor. Ceramic film costs more to make and rejects more heat than dyed or carbon film.

Film line within a brand. Most manufacturers sell more than one ceramic line. The top lines reject more infrared heat and cost more.

Number of windows. A coupe with two doors has less glass than a three row SUV. Quarter windows and small vent windows add time.

Rear window shape. Steep, curved rear windows take longer to shrink and fit.

Old tint removal. Taking off old film and all its adhesive, especially on rear windows with defroster lines, can take longer than the install itself.

Sunroofs and glass roofs. These are usually priced as an add-on.

Why ceramic costs more, and when it's worth it

Ceramic film blocks a lot of infrared heat even in light shades, and it doesn't fade or interfere with electronics. That matters most if:

If you mainly want privacy on the back windows and don't care much about heat, carbon can be a reasonable middle ground. We'd steer most people away from dyed film because it fades.

What to compare between quotes

A quote that's much lower than the others is usually lower for a reason. Ask:

Window tint cost FAQ

Is ceramic tint worth the extra money?

If heat is your main complaint, yes. If you only want privacy on rear windows, carbon may be enough.

Does tinting just the rear windows cost less?

Yes. Fewer windows means less film and labor.

Why do quotes for the same car vary so much?

Different films, different film lines within a brand, and whether old film removal is included.

Can I get an exact price over the phone?

We can give you a quote once we know the year, make and model, the film you want and whether there's old tint to remove.

These ranges come from price guides published by Michigan shops in 2025 and 2026. They're meant to give you a sense of the market, not a price for your car. The only way to know what your car will cost is a quote based on the vehicle, the film, and the condition of the glass.
